This is the story of the journey of spices from Asia to our corner of the world, and their use – which has varied over the centuries – as recounted by the "The Spice Route. From Indonesia to our plates” exhibition.
From 3 May, the Grand Curtius museum presents the “A scent of happiness” exhibition by France Demay, as well as photos by the winners of the “Happiness” competition, which was organised by the “Priorité à l'Ouverture” photography group. This exhibition presents two popular visions of happiness.
The Grand Curtius in Liège presents "To the avant-garde! The 12th battalion", the history of the oldest defence department. The 12th battalion – Prince Léopold's 13th battalion, which today has its barracks in Spa, was born with Belgium.
The Battle of Stalingrad refers to the fighting that occurred between 17 July 1942 and 2 February 1943 for control of the eponymous city, which has been our sister city since 1959. The USSR forces fought those of the Third Reich. The fighting, which lasted six months, claimed the lives of about 750,000 soldiers and 250,000 civilians, making the Battle of Stalingrad one of the deadliest in history.
It was one of the great defeats of the German army and was definitely a major strategic turning point in World War II.
The creative workshops that work in the Liège area are challenged to work together on a common theme once a year. For several weeks, young people from Liège are given a place in which to create and let their imaginations run wild.
The result is an exceptionally diverse exhibition: “The Grand Bazaar”.

The Curtius Museum hosts a remarkable exhibition of pieces by the Antheit artist Paul Delvaux (1897–1994). The “From tomorrow to Delvaux” exhibition inaugurates the Grand Curtius’ temporary exhibition halls. The exhibition showcases Paul Delvaux’s favourite domain: stations, trains and trams. The exhibition will present an exceptional collection of paintings, watercolours, sketches and artefacts that belonged to Delvaux. The pieces that are exhibited come from museums in Belgium and overseas (including Japan and USA), the Delvaux Foundation in Saint-Idesbald and private collections.
