The Orient Express

The Orient Express is a legendary name that has continued to inspire writers and film-makers, as evidenced by the recent release of Kenneth Branagh's latest film, "Murder on the Orient Express”, based on the novel by Agatha Christie. Although the English and Americans have appropriated this subject, the journey is predominantly tied to Liège. It is the story of an ambitious businessman, Georges Nagelmakers, who would succeed in creating an international network of sleeper cars, which removed the difficulties involved in crossing borders, at a time when nationalism demanding partitioning.

The Orient Express exhibition will be at the Grand Curtius museum between 15 December 2017 and 4 February 2018; you are invited to discover this story through items from the famous Compagnie internationale des wagons-lits. It is an invitation to take a journey that leaves you between myth and reality.
