“Expressions of the Grand Curtius – Sophie Langohr and Christophe Remacle” Wise virgins vs Crazy virgins?

Sophie Langohr photographed the faces of statues of virgins and saints that she exhumed from the museum's reserves. In parallel, she retouched photos of celebrities' faces taken from the Internet, who now represent the major perfume, cosmetics and leather goods brands. When placed side by side, the resemblance is unsettling. Removed from the advertising image and the mania of entire sections of Western art for physical perfection, Sophie Langohr is attracted to these faults, though not without a sense of humour or tenderness.
